Update on Maylisa'a Kidneys

We went to the pediatrician this week to go over the lab results from the latest U/S of May's kidneys. What he said was not entirely clear to me, but here is the gist of it. She has two ureters traveling from her right kidney to her bladder, of which the lining is swollen. She also has something called hydronephrotis with a possible uretercele inside the bladder. We don't know what all of this means except that she could either have a super kidney or a lot of problems with teh right kidney that require surgery to repair. We were told to make an apt with the pediatrician on base so that we can get a referral to a nephrologist as soon as we can. It is a holiday weekend. We have to wait until Tues. to make an apt with the pediatrician on the base.
Love that about the military. We are never allowed to just take our child to the doctor- we have to get a referral from the military Dr. before we can go to the other doctor that we want to see in the first place.
This all sounds so serious to us, especially because we don't know yet what all of this means. But, the Dr. reassured us that it was not life threatening unless there was swelling in the bladder lining sufficient to block the entrance of the urine from the ureter. In that case, there would be an event equivalent to a pipe bursting and that would not be good but still repairable.
So, we are going to call the clinic in Tues. and try to get an apt with a specialist within the week.
Until then, this is all we know. Thanks for keeping her in your prayers before and after her birth. I will post more when we know more.
Other than that, we are having a marvelous time! My parents stayed for a week and they were a huge help to us. Chris' family is over a lot and supportive as well. So, we feel uplifted and rooted in love on all sides. thanks.
