Maylisa is almost one week old and we can't beleive how fast it has gone and how tired we are. She is SUCH an easy baby for us. I am so grateful for this as I ahve been praying the whole time she was being created for an easy transition into parenthood for Chris and I. I didn't think I wanted Chris to leave with worries that the year would be harder for me than he thought with a hard baby. Praise God for granting this request of mine so far.
She came out alert and silently looking around at everything. She eats, she has a "food coma" for about ten or fifteen minutes and then she looks around some more until she gets tired enough to fall asleep. She has only fussed a very few times and has the best disposition of any member of our family so far. :)
We have had the Forinash parents over for the last week and htat has been sucha great blessing. A bit busy,but so helpful. Rena (heather's Mom) has so much experience with babies and the "old school" way of doing things that she has had a lot of very helpful tips nad information that sets our minds at ease. She also came over and set up a sweat shop on the table so that she could sew a few baby slings and a romper for Maylisa. She took me out to get a pedicure and a few nice little items for postpartum help. Daryol (Heather's Dad) has bee cooking dinner and teaching us how to properly burp a baby. He has also been reciting poems that he has written over the past few years, proving himself to be truely proficient and comical. I can't wait for the day when May is old enough to understand them and enjoy hearing them as much as I have.
Chris' parents were right here when the all the excitement happened and left for home on Sunday afternoon with plans to stop off at their son Greg's house where his wife, Rachel was expecting a baby to come in Sept. The 20th of that month, to be exact. What they found there took everyone by surprise- Rachel's water broke and she was in labor! A month early and three days after his cousin, Zachary (possibly Scott- they have not decided) Pelczar made his first appearance! We were so beside ourselves with this hilariously timed blessing! We have not been to visit yet but we are planning a long look at our new nephew this coming Sunday.
All in all, we have seen so much of God's creation this week that we don't know how to respond but to marvel that He allowed us to have a small participation in it. And now, we get to keep it. for as long as He lets us, we will parent and love nad care for this creation. (Does He remember who I am? I keep wondering...) What joy is ours in this new charge. what responsibility. Pray for us, dear friends, as we embark. We have no idea what we are about. Only that in this child, God has given us a deeper understanding of how much and how deep is His love for us. He loves this baby more than we ever could, and we already love her quite a bit. His love being what it is, H e loved His Son more than we could ever love our children, but He knew that He would send and command His Son to die so that the rest of us could know Him.
How much clearer the worth of this is to me in our present situation. And what a deep joy it is to know more deeply the love that our God is capable of.
