Surgery

May's surgery was a great success, thanks to our good God, the Dr.s that were performing this surgery were the cream of the crop so to speak, and when they saw the growth on top of the right kidney, it looked alive and healthy. They decided to take a more complicated route to preserve the kidney and it's "friend" (the growth on top of it) since it seemed to be trying to function normally. There were two ureters on the right side, so they debated, called us to talk to us about it and made the decision to unite those ureters (sort of like a grafting of two branches) and keep everything intact. They trimmed the one from the growth to remove the blockage and shorten it and connected it to form a "y" shape before connecting it all to her bladder. Maylisa now has what we like to call a "super kidney" (without the cape).
We are so relieved to have it done and over. The hardest part is seeing her uncomfortable but we really think she is gifted with petience for suffering. She has only cried out a very few times. She wimpers a bit when she is uncomfortable but mostly she bears everything so well. (I am sure painkillers help, but even so...I am so impressed with how quiet and acquiescent she has been).
We have had a huge outpouring of love nad support the past few days. We are praising God for His direction of all of this and for His provision of all of you to us.
